The Academic Dean has the following faculties:

  • Performing as Secretary of the Internal Council and the Academic Personnel Cloister;
  • Performing as the Spokesperson of any commissions that are created;
  • Substituting the Dean when he should receive leaves of absence or commissions no longer than 60 days;
  • Substituting the Dean, with voice but without vote, at the Humanities Technical Council;
  • Substituting the Dean, with with the right to speak but not vote, at the Academic Council of the Social Sciences Area;
  • Helping the Dean to produce a budget project;
  • Helping the Dean's office to create the Development Plan, and the Institute's yearly activity program and work report;
  • Helping the Dean to coordinate research activities and and the education of human resources;
  • Coordinating meetings of collective bodies;
  • Receiving applications for open- or closed-opposition contests of academic personnel, as well as general academic movements
  • Developing all and any activities that the Dean entrusts to the Secretary, in accordance with the nature and functions of the Academic Secretary.
  • Helping the Dean to coordinate the different section leaders.

The Administrative Secretary has the following faculties:

  • Spending the budget assigned to the Institute;
  • Overseeing the due application of human, financial and material resources assigned to the Institute;
  • Developing a yearly budget projection according to institutional policies and the detected needs of the Institute;
  • Managing and controlling the movement of academics, and office and administrative employees, whether they are unionized or not;
  • Overseeing the work of the Institute's administrative employees and informing the Dean of these in a timely manner;
  • Updating the Institute's accounting books;
  • Coordinating the purchase, storage, care and supply of goods and services needed by the Institute;
  • Coordinating and controlling maintenance and conservation services of movable and immovable property assigned to the Institute, according to applicable by-laws;
  • Coordinating and controlling the security and support services provided by personnel assigned to the Institute, according to applicable by-laws;
  • Purchasing any and all necessary items;
  • Overseeing maintenance and security within the Institute's facilities;
  • Taking part in writing the yearly Institutional duties report;
  • Reaching agreements with the Dean on the management of the Institute's resources, for future assignation and planning;
  • Reaching agreements with the Dean regarding administrative procedures for budgets, personnel, scholarships, supplies and general services.
  • Constantly following up on support and assistance needed by the Institute regarding financial, human and material resources, as well as timely tending to them;
  • Evaluating competencies of administrative employees and ensuring their training and actualization;
  • Supporting the Dean when extraordinary resources must be obtained, and overseeing that they are duly used;
  • Coordinating procedures regarding the administration of human and financial resources, before University or external agencies and in representation of the Dean;
  • Receiving petitions for support or services for the proper development of the Institute's duties.
  • Developing all and any activities that the Dean entrusts to the Secretary, in accordance with the nature and functions of the Administrative Secretariat.

The Technical Secretary has the following faculties:

  • Coordinating and overseeing the execution and observance of policies set by the University concerning its duties;
  • Designing procedures that allow for constant improvement in the performance of the departments belonging to the Technical Secretariat;
  • Producing, executing and evaluating the yearly Work Programs of the departments and areas that belong the the Technical Secretariat, and informing the Dean and the Academic Dean about the performance, according to the Institute's control, follow-up and evaluation instruments;
  • Co-operating in planning and coordinating publishing processes;
  • Planning and overseeing promotional activities regarding the Institute's publications;
  • Leading and overseeing the efforts of its departments, in order to decide which goods and services are needed for developing the yearly budget projection;
  • Overseeing any contracts assigned to external purveyors or service providers, regarding its areas of responsibility;
  • Coordinating and overseeing work related to the Virtual Law Library.
  • Coordinating the training and actualization of technical and/or administrative personnel from Technical Secretariat departments, and
  • Developing all and any activities that the Dean entrusts to the Secretary, in accordance with the nature and functions of the Technical Secretariat.
