Bertrand Mathieu

BERTRAND MATHIEU was born at Dijon in 1956. A specialist in public law, he is a Professor at the Université Panthéon, Sorbonne, Paris I.

Bertrand Mathieu is President of the French Association of Constitutional Law. He is also member of the executive committee of the International Association of Constitutional Law and member of the managing committee of the European Public Law Association and of the Academic Committee of the European Public Law Institute. He is Director of Constitutional Law Research at the University Paris I.

He is member of the Commission on the Criminal Liability of the Head of State, and of the Commission on the Modernisation and Rebalancing of the Constitution of the Vth Republic.

He is author or co-author of many publications on constitutional law, and on fundamental rights and liberties, particularly in the field of bioethics. His publications include : La Bioéthique (Dalloz 2009) ; La Loi (Dalloz 2004) ; Contentieux constitutionnel des droits fondamentaux (co-edited, LGDJ 2002); Institutions politiques et droit constitutionnel (manual by Ph. Ardant, LGDJ 2009).

He is editor of the Journal Constitutions (published in the series Editions by Dalloz, February 2010) and member of the academic committee of the journal La Semaine juridique (JCP general edition). He co-edits the series Les Cahiers Constitutionnels de Paris I, Dalloz.
